Frequently asked questions
How does the licensing work for custom vocals?
If you already have the topline written (melody and lyrics) and you just need a new vocal, the performance is royalty-free – you keep 100% of the publishing and master.
If I write the topline (melody and/or lyrics), we share the publishing royalties according to the industry-standard split: 50% for you and 50% for me, unless we agree on something different in advance.
Master/recording rights stay with you or your label. The fees on this page cover vocal performance & recording only.
What’s the usual turnaround time?
Rough guideline:
- Vocal upgrade: around 5 business days
- Song package: around 7 business days
- Pro package: around 7 business days depending on complexity and feedback
I’ll confirm the exact timeline when you send your project link, because I’m only taking a limited number of custom bookings per month.
What exactly do I get back?
You get organised 24-bit WAV stems:
- Lead, doubles and harmonies as booked in your package
- Cleanly edited and aligned to your instrumental
- Dry stems included in every package
- Wet/processed stems included where stated, or available as an add-on
Files are bounced from the same project I use for my own releases, so they drop straight into your DAW for mixing.
How do revisions work?
Revisions are mainly done on the guide ideas before I record final takes. You’ll hear melody/lyric ideas first so we can adjust direction together.
- Vocal upgrade: 1 minor feedback round (small phrasing tweak)
- Song package: 1 feedback round on topline/phrasing
- Pro package: 2 feedback rounds on topline/phrasing
Once the final performance is recorded and delivered, extra takes or bigger rewrites can be quoted as an additional session.
Can I feature you or use your artist name on the track?
By default, custom vocals are delivered as a ghost vocal – no artist feature or name usage is included in the price.
If you’d like to feature me as an artist or use an artist name, let me know in your initial message and we can see if it fits creatively and agree on separate terms.
Are the vocals tuned and processed?
All vocals are lightly edited for timing and basic pitch tightening so they sit in the pocket. Heavy FX, creative processing and mix/mastering are not included.
On packages where wet stems are included, you’ll also get a version with my go-to vocal chain so you can hear how I imagined it sitting in the mix.
